We help every student shine!
At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we believe it is important for students to pursue interests to find what they are passionate about. We give them exposure to a range of exciting opportunities to unlock their creative potential, develop a talent or follow a passion.
We help every student shine!
Creative and Performing Arts
Our children enjoy many opportunities to glow and grow with creative and performing arts such as music, drama and dance.
Students can join the OLMC School Band Program and learn instruments like clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, french horns, flutes, drums and bass guitars. Through our partnership with the CAPTIVATE diocesan arts team, children receive one half hour small group instrument lesson during their school day. The school band rehearses in the afternoon and showcase their skill at special performances.
Dance is offered via our CAPA dance (Creative and Practical Arts) program where students have fun with flash mobs, social dance, and cultural dances from around the world.

School Sport
Sport is a valued part of a school’s curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child by providing opportunities for social, physical, emotional and moral learning. Participation, enjoyment and skill development are the cornerstones of school sport. Representative pathways are also available through the Parramatta Diocesan Primary Schools Sports Council.
Throughout the school year, students compete in carnivals and sporting events at the school, zone, diocesan and inter-diocesan levels. They hone their sporting skills with specialist gala days and after school clinics.
The wide range of sports we offer include cross country, athletics, swimming, rugby league, rugby union, touch football, basketball, netball, soccer, cricket and softball.
OLMC students participate in physical education lessons from a qualified PE teacher. They can also enjoy some regular exercise with our Thursday Morning workout sessions.

Excursions, Camps and Retreats
Our students benefit greatly from school trips where they are able to observe new things not available at school such as rare and exotic wildlife and plants, different cultures and the stories of our history. These experiences lead to deeper understanding of learning subjects. In recent years, students have visited zoos, farms, national parks and historical sites that enrich their classroom learning experiences.
From awe-inspiring astronomy talks to diverse cultural performances, students engage in unique educational incursions that truly bring learning to life.
Our senior students attend Camp Collaroy on Sydney’s Northern Beaches where they participate in beach-side adventure activities. Camps and retreats are wonderful opportunities for students to develop independence, grow in faith, form strong friendships and make life-long memories!
The following are some other extra-curricular activities that may be offered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
